Brains, brawn and blueprints! Add a very different version of Donatello to your collection with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mirage Comics Handyman Donatello 7 Inch Ultimate Action Figure by NECA.
Inspired by Donatello’s appearance in issue #11 of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic series from Mirage Studios, this figure celebrates the inventive Turtle at work. Rather than heading straight into battle, Donatello is fixing, building and putting his technical skills to good use.
Before the cartoons, movies and mountains of merchandise, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles began in the groundbreaking black-and-white comics created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
NECA’s Handyman Donatello figure draws directly from that early Mirage Comics era. The sculpt and decoration recreate the distinctive comic-book appearance, giving the figure a style that stands apart from later versions of the character.
Standing approximately 7 inches tall, Donatello features full articulation for a wide variety of poses. However, it is the collection of character-specific accessories that really makes this release special.
The figure includes interchangeable heads and hands, along with a selection of tools and a tool belt. There is even a miniature typewriter. As a result, collectors can recreate Donatello’s memorable issue #11 appearance or create their own workshop display.
As part of NECA’s popular Ultimate range, the figure combines detailed sculpting with plenty of display options. The collector-friendly window box also features original artwork by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman.
Therefore, the packaging is almost as collectable as the figure itself. Keep Donatello boxed for display or open him up and put all those tools to work.
For collectors of the original Mirage-era Turtles, the Handyman Donatello NECA Figure offers something refreshingly different. It celebrates Donatello’s intelligence and creativity while recreating a memorable moment from the early comics.
Whether displayed alongside Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael or added to a dedicated Donatello collection, this Ultimate figure is a fantastic tribute to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics.
