Hey everyone – Tony here, checking in from the buzzing heart of San Diego Comic-Con, and what a third day it’s been! If you thought things peaked yesterday, think again. Today was wall-to-wall pop culture madness, merch mayhem, and unexpected encounters—and I’m still catching my breath.
Let’s start with the big reveals. I swung by the Toynk booth first thing and was immediately stopped in my tracks by their Golden Girls action figures. Yes, you read that right—Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia, immortalised as articulated icons. They’re as sassy in plastic as they were on screen, and I genuinely can’t wait to get a full set on my shelf.
Just around the corner, Enesco was turning heads with their gorgeous Exorcist collectibles—disturbing in all the right ways. Their attention to detail is seriously impressive, from the possessed expression on Regan’s face to the eerily accurate bedroom diorama. Horror fans, rejoice: this line is not messing around.
Then came Star Ace, who dropped jaws (and a few audible gasps) with their Horror of Frankenstein creature statue. If you thought you’d seen every take on Frankenstein’s monster, think again. This sculpt captures a strange blend of brute force and sadness—true to the Hammer aesthetic—and I had to go back twice just to take it all in.
But Comic-Con isn’t just about the merch—it’s the vibe. And today, that vibe was Peacefest. Picture a psychedelic pocket of serenity nestled in the chaos: guitars, good vibes, retro tees, and more than a few people dressed like Woodstock walked through the Stargate. We chilled, we danced, we bought a lot of pins we didn’t need but absolutely love.
On the celebrity front, I bumped into Mark Rolston again—Aliens royalty and still as cool as ever. And then, the highlight of my day: a chat with Duncan Jones, the visionary behind Moon. He’s here promoting his upcoming Rogue Trooper film, based on the legendary 2000AD comic. Let me tell you: the buzz is real. Jones spoke passionately about doing justice to the source material, and judging by the teaser art? He’s on the right track.
And if all that wasn’t enough, I ended the day knee-deep in the savage world of Predator: Badlands. It’s gritty, it’s brutal, and the booth was alive with props, storyboards, and a couple of cosplayers who made me genuinely nervous.
In short, Day Three delivered. From retro queens and demonic children to intergalactic mercenaries and British sci-fi royalty—it’s the pop culture cocktail I never knew I needed.
One more day to go. Let’s make it count.
